About Us

Camp Lor-Ray assists Evangelical Lutheran Synod and Wisconsin Evangelical Lutheran Synod churches by providing a Christ-Centered recreation environment for youth and families.

The camp’s property, located just north of Muskegon, MI, consists of 165 forested acres and includes an outdoor chapel overlooking a private, 15 acre manmade lake, the 30-site Family Camp area (available May through October) and the Group Camp area which includes a dining hall/kitchen, bathhouse, pavilion, family cabin/nurse’s station and multiple cabins. Group Camp accommodates up to 93 campers.

Throughout the year Camp Lor-Ray hosts multiple children’s camps and also offers facility to rent to pioneer groups and ELS & WELS members & families.

Camp Lor-Ray started in 1962 as an ELS youth camp with 166 campers and counselors. Over the years it grew and progressed until it acquired its permanent home on the current property.
As an organization we also accept and confess the Christian Lutheran beliefs.

Camp Lor-Ray is proud to introduce the annual Camp Lor-Ray Annual Triathlon Fundraiser! Each team is composed of two people — it may be a co-ed pair — and completes three camp-crafted legs of the triathlon.

Teams are sent off in heats of four with timed spacing between each start. The race begins with a 150-yard swim (approx. four minutes) in Lake Setterbo, followed by a 5K* through the woods of Camp Lor-Ray. Runners typically take between 20-35 minutes to finish 3.1 miles. A 500-yard kayak dash (approx. five minutes) completes the triathlon.

Note: The 5K course is on a wooded cross-country terrain and does contain natural hazards, including, but not limited, to sticks, branches, depressions, poison ivy and other “like irritants,” as well as insects, and occasional wildlife. Trails are maintained in limited fashion throughout the year by rough mowing and branch clearing.

The triathlon is separated into two age groups:

21 and up
The registration fee is $45 per team, and payment is due on race day. The cost includes an event t-shirt and burger/hot dog lunch. Please pre-register on Camp Lor-Ray’s website. Same-day registration will be available, though a t-shirt is then not guaranteed. If you plan to attend but are unable to pre-register, please contact us at

Participants should take steps to be in good physical condition if registering for this unique event. For safety precautions, there will be two rafts stationed for the swim, as well as a safety boat on the lake.

Liability Release Forms will be available registration and must be signed by both team members.

Event Sponsors
Spaces are available to support Camp Lor-Ray’s triathlon. These sponsorships are available to both individuals and businesses.

Lunch Sponsor: $200
Event Sponsors: $125 each
General Sponsors: $50 each
Camp Friend Sponsors: $10 each

For more information about sponsorships, please contact us at here with the subject “2019 Triathlon Sponsor.”

Registration will be opening for this event soon, check back here at a later date.
